my uncle passed...

i had to leave touring for awhile.

i found out mid day january 20th, 2009 that my uncle Anthony Richard Serrone had passed.

the funeral was scheduled for january 24th, 2009.

my trip started in rapid city, SD. here's their airport...

they had a cool statue of abraham lincoln...

but still, nothing about the city was rapid...

from there i had a layover in minneapolis MN.

their airport was super trippy...like an acid trip.

the security guard in the background was hysterical....

his conversation with a 60 something year old woman.

security guard - "where you going?"
60 something year old woman - "aspen."
security guard - "why?"

also, the sign thanks you for taking part in security today.

thank you sign.

although the layover was only an hour i managed to join a doo-wop group in minneapolis. the group consisted of me, ted, mickey and greg.

ted, mickey and greg were wooden wolves. they were just ok at singing.

after that i finally made it to new york.

here is our nations first bridge, the george washington bridge...

i arrived on friday, the funeral was saturday.

Anthony left behind a son who was his world...

and a wife whom he loved completely...

the one on the right is my mother. the one on the left is my aunt, anthony's wife.

Anthony Richard Serrone, born June 6, 1951 - January 20, 2009.
my uncle anthony was one of the hardest working people i have ever known. before you realilzed it he would have done 10 things to make your life easier. he loved watching the ny mets and discussing sport statistics with anyone who would. his honesty in himself was inspiring, much like he was. i know it sounds cliche but he truly was/is a great man. i did not grow up with a father but i had three uncles who never for a minute let me realize it, he was one third of that equation and a huge part of my life.

i will forever miss you Anthony. may you rest in peace...
