washington d.c....

After Philadelphia we made our way to the nations capital. It has been years since i have been to Washington D.C. so my return was very exciting.

*on i side note my summer has been very uneventful and i have gone in and out slumps. these are the reason for the blog break. i hope to be more on top of things from here on out. i will post pics from the summer but the stories will be dressed up to seem of interest.

back to D.C....

we got there some what early and took full advantage of our time covering at least 7-9 miles over our promenading. our first stop was the capital building. it was one of those buildings that in its presence you can't help but to feel small and almost insignificant. unless you vote, i would think you would feel quite the opposite if you did. but still, you can't ever get use to this kind of beauty...

down the road we went to the smithsonian institutes air and space museum. it was so very cool. all the planes made me feel like a kid being easily amused by life's simple things...

they had a wright brothers bike...

a plane named after chicago...

*it looks like the propeller is a south side chicago mustache.

the plane snoopy flew...

and a big ass motherfuckin' engine of sorts...

one thing that stunk was the 90 degree heat. with the sun and knowledge pounding down on us all day it left us pretty beat...

luckily there were twins around...

we went in to the national archives and checked out some of there things. nice gift shop and awesome constitution...

not to mention the declaration of independence. so awesome, better than vision street wear skate shows...

well almost better than them.

*drew opted to not do the blow job face. looks like someone does not love his country as much as someone else who is willing to suck an imaginary penis for it. a different pride, american pride!!!

we popped into the smithsonian institutes museum of american history to check out the emancipation proclamation. pretty bad ass lincoln, pretty bad ass. take that honkey...

the smithsonian institute has something like 287 museums in washington d.c. we couldn't visit all of them but were fortunate enought to see their version of a natural history museum.

here's a horny gay dinosaur...

a whale chasing a big ass sea turtle...

security was a total asshole...

but the fish were super relaxing...

to end our tour of the greater mall area of washington d.c. was one of my heroe's monuments. no, not thomas jefferson, that would be stupid. it was abraham lincoln. the best damn lawyer this country has ever seen. really, cochrane good...

finally we had to bust out to make it to somewhere in maryland to do a show. but not before checking out anthony bourdain's recommended "Ben's Chili Bowl"...

man it was so good...

man he thinks he's the cooking worlds lou reed...

all in all d.c. was great and i feel lucky to have had the time to check it out. one day i will return in the form of someone just rolling into town to catch a matinee of a summer blockbuster movie starring will smith. hopefully, he is still getting work, keep your fingers crossed.

here is a quick video i did as an ode to dc...

philadelphia...

a little while ago the tour group had a chance to spend the better part of half a day, the part where you are up, in philadelphia...

i went to college in philadelphia and have a love for the city close to my love for the smell of parking garages.

as always (we were there for an hour or so six months ago and did the same thing first. actually it was the only thing we did) we went to geno's steaks. here's the 4 of us enjoying a nice authentic philly cheese steak (with provolone cheese) at the worlds famous and racist geno's steaks...

right by the order counter they have a sign that reads "if you could read thank a teacher. if you could read english thank a marine!" there were none around to do so. we ended up not thanking anyone. but damn good cheese steaks, damn good.

www.genosteaks.com

after geno's we drove down to old city and parked the van so we could walk around. get all historic and shit, sorta.

our first stop was the "christ church" on 2nd and market. it was founded in 1695 ad and has the burial ground that houses good ol' benny frank...lin. we will get to him in a little bit. below is a grave site of buckridge sims. i have never heard of him but his tomb caught my eye...

reason 1) because it was right at the foot steps of the church...

and reason 2)
part one - a, his birth date is the same as mine
part two - b, his death age is the same number as the year of my birth.
article c - his last name is "sims", my favorite football player growing up was phil "simms". i even had his jersey.
section IV(4)- my nickname was buckridge in college, sorta.

right up the block of my main soulmate buckridge was my favorite pizza shop in philadelphia. its still there and they still have no idea who i am, "self proclaimed biggest fan of your pizza, in philadelphia, there are better places in other places". whenever i see it a tear comes to my eye...

a couple of blocks up i saw a cardboard cut out of good ol' benny frank...lin. man he looked horrible and the breakfast he was trying to peddle was ridiculous. $17.00 for only a three station buffet. benny "F" you so crazy...

i think i wanna have your baby...

* benny "f"s tombstone.

we could never have a baby. he's dead, has been for awhile.

here's another tombstone at the christ church's burial grounds. it looks like it is giving me the finger. or you if you are looking at it...

right down the block was the betsy ross house. she was not there that day. again, dead and all. luckily one of her friends was hanging out. she was telling people cool facts about bets and the house. she let me take a picture with her while giving the international sign for "blowjob". it was pretty alright...

we spent so much time at all the other places that by the time we got to the u.s. mint they were not letting anymore people in. they stopped at 3:30 pm. talk about being a lazy mint. seth managed to find fun of the situation by sliding up the handrail. thats right, up the handrail...

*he was actually sliding down.

We then walked through the independence hall park. it was very different from when i was there. they added in a museum that surrounded the liberty bell and a huge park. here is a picture of the liberty bell...

although i have seen it many times this time it was a little bit different. i think it had a lot to do with the museum part leading up to the bell. a time line of the bells history, what it stood for, what it fought for and especially the very soft ken burns style music playing in the background. music always does it for me.

across the street was independence hall. it had no music and was some what boring. here is a picture of all 4 of us in front of independence hall pretending to have a good time...

i saw this one sculpture of this one guy in washington park right across the street from independence hall. this guy looks like if ronald reagan's face was on the side of his head and was frozen in carbonite, exactly like that...

we also got to check out glenna goodacre's "the irish memorial" the sculpture salutes the indefatigable spirit of the irish and its eagerness to engage the challenges of a new world. it reminded adam and i of the brady bunch...

to end the philly tour we decided to see the historic "rocky statue". it is a statue of the fictional character rocky that lives in each and every one of us. people kiss the feet of christ on the crucifix when they see that statue, people rise their arms in triumph in front of the rocky when they see his statue. here is drew...

of course mine didn't work out as well...

another thing you must do if in philadelphia is run up the front steps to the art museum just like rocky did. here's adam, seth and i doing it...

i'm convinced that the front and back of the philadelphia art museum has the best views of the city. if you were walking out of the museum through the front exit you would see this...

and greek style would be this...

the time had was great by all...

the next morning we woke up in a hotel in king of prussia PA (an actual town called "king of prussia", they have a big mall) before we made our way to washington d.c. one of the last images we saw was a best western employee taking down "eat balls" from the sign. oh philadelphia you are hysterical...

up next...D.C.

emily turned 30! like a month ago...

so emily turned 30 about a month ago. give or take a week. take a week. it was like a month and four days ago. she looked stunning...

on her actual birthday there was a gathering at piece pizza to celebrate her birth and goat cheese-spinach pizza. the pizza actually stole the show at one point in the evening, it was beautiful. the company was also nice. after we went to the bar for drinks.

i think overall emily had a nice birthday. she got to hang out with friends...

*erin and emily

*emily and tracy

*emily and michael

she got to play pool...

she got to look like a mannequin...

i mentioned the pizza right?...

and i got to hang out with her too!

so i think we both had a nice evening...

at midnight her birthday was over.

but then on saturday it reappeared. emily and i got tickets to medieval times in schaumburg il. to celebrate her birth again, and pretty much technology overall.

http://www.medievaltimes.com/ - go there!!!

apparently the only way to get to medieval times is by tour bus. take route 90 until you see the giant steel satellite tower then a left...

are county was the shit. by far the coolest county of them all. for we were seated in the...

our colors were yellow and red...

our crowns were yellow and red as well to show our perelada pride...

our knight was quite stunning...

our serving boy was julio...

julio did not enjoy the terminology "serving boy" and gave me a modern day smack across ye old face.

as a side note our knight wasn't to much into winning. he was way more into dying. although he was breathtaking he was a little knight bitch too. here's him about to eat it...

i've put together a video montage of the experience...

below...

below below...

once the festivities were over we walked around the grounds and got to know the locals. it was really nice to meet people from that time period. it turns out they are just like us. sure, there was a couple of cultural differences but no two snow flakes are alike.

this medieval woman was a student by day at the local university and worked as a castle director part time in the evenings. i believe her name was sarah or something medieval like that...

emily was totally getting hit on by kyle, the arrogant, confident and strong castle security guard. all qualities i do not possess. well not totally, i enrolled in castle training the next day. here's that smug fuck...

later i met up with the ye olde gift shoppe attendant and concocted a plan to teach kyle a lesson...

we will see who will get the lady in the end...

*it will be me.

the night was a blast. i was super drunk off of medieval miller lite...

and we were both going to the bathroom in public. but at designated areas...

i hope emily had fun and is 30 years of age.
